Pin Picker: Rules and Scoring

Pin Picker is the timing game on the Daman Login start page. Every number below is taken straight from the game's own rules file, so what you read here is exactly what the lock does.

The goal

Open as many locks as you can before your picks run out. Each lock has a row of pins. For the pin you are working on, a needle sweeps round the dial and a lime arc marks the gate. Tap while the needle is inside the gate and the pin sets. Set them all and the lock opens.

Controls

  • Tap anywhere on the dial, or the big Pick button under it.
  • On a keyboard, focus the Pick button and press Space or Enter.
  • Calm speed slows every needle to 65 % of normal. It turns on by itself if your device asks for reduced motion.
  • The game pauses when you leave the tab and waits for you to tap Resume.

Sets, clean sets and slips

  • Set: the needle is inside the gate when you tap.
  • Clean set: the needle is in the bright middle third of the gate.
  • Slip: the needle is outside the gate. One pick snaps, the clean streak resets and the lock jams for a moment.

You start every run with 3 picks. Opening a lock gives one back, up to 3. When the last pick snaps, the run is over and its numbers are added to your key card.

Needle speed is for the first pin; each later pin in the same lock adds 6°/s. Pins stop growing at seven and the gate never shrinks below 16°.

Ranks

Ranks follow the lifetime locks on your key card, across every run:

  • Tumbler: 10 locks opened
  • Pin Setter: 40 locks opened
  • Lock Reader: 120 locks opened
  • Vault Hand: 300 locks opened

Tips from the desk

  1. Look at the gate before the needle moves. You always get half a turn of warning.
  2. Tap on the needle's approach, not when you see it arrive. Your eyes lag a little behind the screen.
  3. On a long gate run, aim for the bright middle. The streak bonus grows fast on later locks.
  4. From lock 3 the needle changes direction pin by pin. Say the direction to yourself before each tap.
  5. After a slip, breathe. The jam stops panic taps, so there is no point rushing.
  6. If the needles start to feel too fast, Calm speed is not cheating. It is there to be used.

FAQ

Rule questions

Is the gate position random?

Each gate is placed by a seeded shuffle made at the start of your run, so no two runs share a layout. The needle always starts half a turn away from the gate.

Does tapping fast help?

No. Every tap outside the gate snaps a pick, and the needle keeps moving while it does. One calm, timed tap per pin beats a flurry every time.
